Who we are

The Professional and Technical Training Board (PTTB) has been established under the Labour Department (Federal Board of Revenue) Government of Pakistan.

PTTB is an autonomous institution of providing professional, technical and vocational training all over Pakistan through community-based training centers and is a member of International Association of Accreditation & Certification Bodies (IAACB).

PTTB comprises quality management and professional staff committed to facilitating education by developing Educational Training Programs and manages Needs Assessment of institutes throughout the country.

PTTB strives to combat unemployment, particularly among those seeking opportunities in private sectors or abroad and to bring about socioeconomic changes and improve the quality of life for underprivileged masses, both rural and urban.

The Board functions under the overall supervision of the Core Committee, made of professionals from different domains constituted by the council members and all core committee members are the members of the board. The board has various statutory committees which are advisory in nature. The Governing Body of the council is constituted as per the rules and regulations. The recommendations of all the committees are placed for approval before the Core Committee of PTTB.

The Chairman is the Chief of the Council and Secretary is the Chief Executive of the board and is assisted by Heads of Divisions that includes Executive Directors of Divisions and Executive Officers. The Core Committee is assisted by the Governing Body/ Managing Committee that consists of Executive Officers in all divisions.

Mission

Our mission at PTTB is to develop a flexible and responsive Technical Vocational Training System that prepares a competent and trained workforce capable of meeting the fast-changing needs of the 21st century. We aim to contribute to the economic development of Pakistan by arranging need-based training programs, workshops, and seminars on Technical Vocational Education & Training, entrepreneurship, employment generation, women’s empowerment, enterprise development, and related issues.

Vision

PTTB envisions a future where education is accessible, affordable, and aligned with international standards. We aim to be trend-setters in the electronic age, continuously researching and implementing new, easy, and cost-effective learning methods. Our vision is to offer cheap, useful, and standardized education that caters to learners at all levels, regardless of their background or location. Through public-private partnerships, we seek to identify, develop, and arrange vocational, technical, professional, and IT training programs that are flexible, demand-driven, and cost-effective, with maximum participation from employers.

  4. Modernize and update teaching and research agendas to keep pace with emerging challenges, trends, and developments in professional, scientific, and technical disciplines.
  5. Promote international communication and analytical skills combined with creative thinking to prepare students for global opportunities and challenges.

Through these objectives, PTTB aims to develop human capital and make a significant impact on personal effectiveness and corporate development in the country. Our training programs are designed to enhance financial, personal, managerial, health, and IT skills of private and public sector executives, providing them with opportunities to improve their skills, educational qualifications, and prospects for the future.

Functions

  1. Facilitate productive collaboration between industries and training providers to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness of training programs.
  2. Identify, analyze, and prioritize the training needs of different geographical areas.
  3. Organize and conduct training, re-training, and skill upgrading programs for both educated youth and employed individuals.
  4. Develop, validate, and establish training standards and curriculum content based on thorough analysis of employment and industry requirements to ensure high-quality, relevant, and need-based training.
  5. Create and implement specialized training initiatives tailored for women, children of industrial workers, and others to prepare them for gainful employment or alternative income-generating activities.
  6. Strategize, develop, and execute various programs and activities aimed at promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training for the benefit of individuals and industries.
  7. Provide support to the informal sectors by offering specific training opportunities and conducting trade testing.
  8. Identify and prioritize training needs based on comprehensive assessments.
  9. Collaborate with industry experts and training institutes to design and develop training courses.
  10. Identify and select training providers from both the public and private sectors.
  11. Promote and advertise training programs with the assistance of training providers.
  12. Coordinate training sessions at reputable institutions equipped with necessary infrastructure and qualified faculty.
  13. Monitor and evaluate training programs through physical visits and other means to ensure their quality.
  14. Arrange and oversee final trade testing and certification processes for successful trainees.
  15. Assist trainees in securing internship and employment opportunities post-training.
  16. Organize skill upgrading, professional development, and customized courses as per demand.
  17. Provide support to organizations in developing and implementing in-plant training programs to address skill deficiencies among employees.
  18. Conduct seminars, workshops, and other events to advocate for and promote training and employment initiatives.
